Scott’s Ramblings

Several people have asked me recently about my take on Christians and jewelry. I wrote a paper for the class New Testament I at SWAU entitled “Gold, Pearls, and Adventists: What Does the Bible Say About Jewelry?” in November of 2003 that examines several aspects of this issue. Perhaps you will find it useful.

I’m finally entering the blogosphere. I’ve thought about it off and on, and I’ve even checked out blogger.com, but I’ve never wanted to commit myself to writing content. Two things have pushed me over the edge this time:

• First, one of my friends told me about his blog and how he was using it to record things he didn’t want to forget. He’s also giving some of his ideas for campus ministries at Southwestern Adventist University. I thought about the different ideas and thoughts I’ve had in the course of serving as the pastor of the Linden and Marshall (Texas) Seventh-day Adventist churches. I also considered the fact that I sometimes have thoughts to express about current events, politics, computing, etc. So starting a blog seemed like a good idea.
• Then, I discovered audioblogger.com. This allows bloggers to record posts from the phone. Now, what could be easier?

And so, with this post I am entering the blogosphere. I hope that at least one person besides me finds my blog to be worth reading!
