Humility vs. Pride

Philippians is one of my favorite books. We’ve been studying it as a group during prayer meeting, and it seems like I’m always seeing something new in it! Lately, we’ve been in chapter 2. What strikes me about this passage is the importance of humility.

Firmness and Fellowship

The church in Philippi was perhaps one of Paul’s favorites. Philippi was the first European city of any consequence that Paul visited, and the church that he founded there was strong. It was a generous church, and one that was mostly free from problems.

How to Live Expecting the Second Coming

A couple of days ago a friend was telling me about a revival that is taking place on his college campus. The thing that the student leaders focus on is being ready for the Second Coming. So they focus on a set of sins to avoid. But is that where our focus should be? How should we live while we’re waiting for Jesus to return?

Is It OK for Christians to Wear Jewelry?

I wrote a paper for the class New Testament I at SWAU entitled “Gold, Pearls, and Adventists: What Does the Bible Say About Jewelry?” in November of 2003 that examines several aspects of this issue.
