Time Calculator 2

Filed under: Web Development, Javascript, Applications — Scott Severance at 3:37 pm on Sunday, January 8, 2006

After meaning to do so for a very long time, I’ve finally updated my time calculator. The result is Time Calculator 2. It has a completely new, intuitive, user interface, as well as a new, better back end.

People have asked me what a time calculator is. It’s simple: When you need to do math with regular numbers, it’s pretty straight forward. But when you’re dealing with times, things get a little trickier. And even if you pull out a regular calculator to help you, you still need to do some conversion; 692 minutes is much harder to understand than 11 hours and 32 minutes.

Thanks for the note. I find it interesting that you still use version 1. What is it about version 1 that you like better than version 2?

Your time calculator is great! It would be even better if keyboard entry worked. Poking at the buttons with the mouse is pretty awkward.

I’d like to offer my thanks on the time calculator, too! I work in radio…and produce programs that depend on me being able to keep track of segment times as the recording session happens. Even though the mouse has to be used to click the numbers, it is a relief and blessing to be able to use your time calculator.

God Bless!
Todd

@Todd:

I always enjoy hearing from radio people since that was the use I had in mind when I wrote this program.

Actually, you can use the keyboard. See the keyboard shortcuts section of the help for details.
